Pakistan Issues Updated E-Passport Fee Schedule in UAE – October 2026

ABU DHABI: Pakistan has started issuing electronic passports (e-Passports) to applicants at its embassy in Abu Dhabi and consulate general in Dubai from October 23, 2026, following the discontinuation of Machine Readable Passports.

Under the new system, all new passport applications submitted at both missions will be processed as e-Passports. However, existing valid Machine Readable Passports (MRPs) will remain valid until their expiry dates.

Pakistani citizens living in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have been advised to apply for passport renewal only when their existing passports have less than six months of validity remaining.

Applicants must provide both a first name and a last name to obtain an e-Passport.

The Pakistani missions have also announced passport fees based on validity, number of pages, processing speed and whether the passport is being replaced after being lost.

E-Passport Fees From October 2026

For a standard 36-page e-Passport, the normal processing fee is AED 145 for a five-year passport and AED 215 for a 10-year passport. Under urgent processing, the fees are AED 235 and AED 355, respectively.

For a 72-page passport, normal processing costs AED 260 for five years and AED 390 for 10 years. Urgent processing costs AED 425 for five years and AED 635 for 10 years.

Higher fees apply to replacement passports issued after a loss. The charges depend on the number of pages, validity period, processing speed and whether it is the first or second loss.

The highest listed fee is AED 2,540 for an urgently processed, 10-year, 72-page passport that has been lost for the second time.
