After Punjab, the Government of Sindh has formally tendered a request for the deployment of army and Frontier Constabulary (FC) during the month of Muharram.

The request was made by the Sindh Home Department which was approved by the Interior Ministry.

The army and FC will be able to take control of any area at the behest of the civil administration.

There deployment is being carried out under Section 4 and 5 of the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997.

The federal ministry of interior has issued orders for the army deployment, stating that the forces will be deployed to assist the civil administration.

It has clarified that army will be based on ground situation and that the provinces will have the authority to determine the deployment locations.

The Sindh Home Department has already contacted the military authorities and a roadmap for the deployment of the army during Muharram has been prepared.

It is worth mentioning here that the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, led by Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, had announced that the moon for the month of Muharram was not sighted on Saturday.

Based on this announcement, the 10th of Muharram, known as Ashura, will be observed on Wednesday, July 17.

Ashura holds significant religious importance for Muslims, marking the day of the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions at the Battle of Karbala.
