Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rahman has warned that if all roads are blocked, then an anti-governmental movement can be launched.

Addressing a press conference at Mansoora, Hafiz Naeemur Rahman said that 20 days have passed since the government signed an agreement with us. Electricity tariff should be reduced all over Pakistan. If all roads are closed, the anti-government movement can started. Today’s strike is not of Jamaat-e-Islami and traders, but of the entire Pakistani nation. Our problem is the people of Pakistan, he added.

The JI chief further said that from Karachi to KPK and  Punjab people are expressing solidarity. It will not work now that you make electricity expensive and impose unnecessary taxes. Now Pakistanis will not bear the burden of IPP. This complete shutter down strike is the first step after which consultations will be started with all business organizations and political and social figures, Hafiz Naeem said.

He said that when Bajwa Sahib was extended, all political parties supported him. Jamaat-e-Islami believes that there is a rule to extend the tenure of any important person. Politicians have started meeting each other over extension issues, he concluded.

Meanwhile, a countrywide strike is being observed today by trade organizations against the imposition of heavy electricity bills and taxes.

Business centers from Karachi to Khyber are closed due to the strike called by various trade organizations and Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan. Schools are also closed in various cities due to the strike.

Various political parties of the country, including Jamaat-e-Islami and JUI-F, have announced their support for the strike. In view of the protest, the administration of Islamabad has blocked the roads leading to the red zone with containers.

The business organizations of Lahore are divided into two factions over the issue of strike as one group is in favour of the strike while the other group is against.
