Apple iPhone 16 to feature slight RAM upgrade

29 August, 2024 09:18

With just over a week remaining in the launch of iPhone 16, a new report revealed that it would boost an 8GB of RAM.

It claims that all four models would pack an 8GB of RAM, while its successor, the iPhone 17 would even boost it further with 12 GB pack.

The decision to keep the RAM at 8GB, is because of AI – the Apple Intelligence – which is mostly cloud based at this moment. However, in future more of AI features would be on device, hence the iPhone 17 would come with more RAM.

Google already jacked up RAM on its Pixel 9 series, and it is currently using a chunk of RAM only for AI applications and nothing else.

Likewise, Apple is likely to follow the same path in 2025.

Traditionally, iPhones have less RAM than the Android in general, but due to integration of AI, it is all about to change.
