Asia and Pacific High Level Conference on Belt and Road Cooperation held virtually today. 

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi virtually addressed the conference.

He emphasized on transforming world economies into development-oriented and environmentally sustainable.

The Minister urged the developed countries to fulfill their commitments under the Paris Agreement to support developing countries in their climate action.

Besides, he reminded them to mobilize 100 billion dollars annually in climate finance as they have promised.

Moreover, he expressed readiness of Pakistan to contribute more than its share to counter environmental degradation and reversing biodiversity loss.

Unwavering support from President Xi Jinping and BRI partners

He said Pakistan highly appreciates the strong and unwavering support, from President Xi Jinping and BRI partners, in this journey towards shared prosperity.

He also referred to the pledge of Prime Minister Imran Khan at the Second Belt and Road Forum.

Furthermore, he said Pakistan as the host of the BRI’s flagship project, will also do its part as we join hands to realize our countries’ shared vision of a clean and green Belt and Road development.

The FM said we should make collective endeavours to ensure equitable and affordable supply of vaccine to developing countries.

Therefore, we fully endorse the initiatives for ‘Belt and Road Partnership on COVID-19 Vaccines Cooperation.’

He further said we also fully endorse ‘Belt and Road Partnership on Green International Development’ being launched today.
