Australia want to host tri-series featuring Pakistan, India

It is no secret that Australia are keen on hosting India and Pakistan for a bilateral series, however due to future tour programme and bilateral relations between the arch-rivals it looks almost an impossible task.

However, Cricket Australia chief executive Nick Hockley has proposed a tri series featuring Pakistan Australia and India.

The arch-rivals haven’t played a bilateral series since 2012-13 as both teams only meet at global ICC and ACC events.

“If we can play a role in helping and facilitating the India vs Pakistan bilateral series, we would be more than happy to do so,” Hockley said in a media interaction.

“Given the schedules, we haven’t had formal discussions in that regard, but we have said it on the record that we will be happy to host the India vs Pakistan bilateral series,” said Hockley.

Apart from India and Pakistan, he also shed light on Australia and Afghanistan series.

“We absolutely want to see cricket grow and thrive all around the world for women and men,” Hockley said.

“The ongoing dialogue with the Afghanistan Cricket Board aims to encourage the development of women’s cricket in Afghanistan, despite current political and social challenges,” he added.

Hockley also expressed optimism about future progress that could enable the resumption of bilateral cricket between Australia and Afghanistan.
