Azam Swati surrenders before ATC

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader and former federal minister Azam Swati has surrendered before the Anti Terrorism Court in a case concerning to controversial tweet on Thursday.

Azam Swati had surrendered before the court and filed interim bail before arrest with the Anti-Terrorism Court, which approved the bail plea in the controversial tweet case against surety bonds worth Rs10,000. The bail is valid till April 20.

A special court, earlier, issued arrest warrant for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader and former federal minister Azam Swati in a case related to controversial tweet.

Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand had issued order to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to arrest Azam Swati and produce him before the court.

The judge had issued Swati’s arrest warrant after the PTI leader’s continuous disappearance from the court hearings in the case.

It is to be mentioned here that on Nov 27, 2023, the Federal Investigation Agency had arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Senator Azam Swati in a case concerning to controversial tweets against state institutions.

A three-member team of Federal Investigation Agency had raided the Azam Swati’s farmhouse in Islamabad’s Chak Shahzad and arrested him.
