Pakistan captain Babar Azam has become the leading runs scorer in the T20I cricket, surpassing India great Virat Kohli on Thursday.

The prolific batter, who struggled early on the innings, managed to find his rhythm in the opening game of the T20 World Cup against co-host USA.

He achieved the milestone in the 11th over of the innings when he smashed Nosthush Kenjige down the ground for a boundary.

Most runs in T20I cricket:

Babar Azam 4043* (113 innings)

Virat Kohli 4038 (110 innings)

Rohit Sharma 4026 (144 innings)

Recently, during the four-match T20I series against England, which the men in green lost 2-0, with two games washed out due to rain, the 29-year-old became the first Pakistan batter to score 4,000 runs in T20I cricket.
