30 June, 2024 17:20

Google has included Balochi among over 100 languages in ever growing intra-language translation platform.

Now the Balochi language is also added in the translation database.

Google Translate has been highlighted for its key role in bridging linguistic gaps to foster global connectivity and enhance understanding across cultures. The platform has made significant strides in accessibility.

Google Translate, notably, in 2022, introduced 24 new languages through Zero-Shot Machine Translation. The latest development is the introduction of the “1,000 Languages Initiative” to underscore Google’s commitment to developing AI models, which cater to the world’s most spoken languages. According to a Google blog: “Now, we’re using AI to expand the variety of languages we support.” It emphasized the deployment of 110 new languages. This expansion will benefit over 614 million speakers, which is approximately 8 per cent of the global population.

Meaningfully, about a quarter of the new languages originate from Africa. Languages such as Kikongo, Fon, Luo, Swati, Venda, Ga and Wolof are included in this diverse update that reflects Google’s commitment to linguistic diversity and inclusivity.
