Who Is Halit Yukay? All about the Missing Turkish Yachting Tycoon?

08 August, 2025 13:40

Halit Yukay, the 43-year-old founder of luxury boatmaker Mazu Yachts, has been missing since the night of August 2, 2025. He was traveling from Yalova, Turkey, to the Greek island of Mykonos aboard his yacht, Graywolf. Authorities later found the yacht wrecked and half-sunken near Prokonnesos off the Turkish coast, but there has been no sign of Yukay himself.

Witness Reports and Search Efforts

A cargo ship captain spotted debris and a lifeboat near the area where Graywolf was found. However, the captain did not immediately realize the connection to Yukay’s missing yacht. Officials say the yacht appears to have broken into two pieces. Turkish coast guard helicopters, divers, and vessels are conducting a large search operation, but so far, there has been no breakthrough.

From a Childhood Dream to a Luxury Brand

Halit Yukay was born in Istanbul in 1982. His love for boats started early—he drew his first boat design when he was just six years old. In 2011, Yukay founded Mazu Yachts, which quickly became known for its luxury craftsmanship and modern technology. His company attracted clients both in Turkey and internationally.

Personal Life and Greek Connections

Yukay is married to a Greek woman who manages marketing and public relations for Mazu Yachts. The couple has one child. His strong personal and business links between Turkey and Greece add complexity to the ongoing mystery of his disappearance.

Current Status

The last communication from Yukay happened on August 2, before all contact was lost. His family reported him missing soon after, and the official search began on August 4. Despite the discovery of the damaged Graywolf, no trace of Yukay has been found yet, and the search continues.
