Bus blast kills nine Chinese and three Pakistanis in KP province, according to Foreign Office Spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri.

He further said that 9 Chinese nationals and 3 Pakistanis lost their lives when a bus carrying them plunged into a ravine after a mechanical failure.

That mechanical failure resulted in leakage of gas that caused a blast.

Moreover, he said authorities concerned are conducting further investigation about the blast occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.

He said the Chinese workers and accompanying Pakistani staff were proceeding to their work place for an ongoing project.

Furthermore, he said the local authorities are providing all possible assistance to the injured.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is closely in contact with the Chinese Embassy for coordination and facilitation.

The Spokesperson said the government and people of Pakistan extend sincere condolences to the families of Chinese and Pakistani workers who lost their lives in the incident.

Moreover, he said we also pray for quick recovery of the injured.

Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri underlined Pakistan and China as close friends and iron-brothers.

He said Pakistan attaches great importance to safety and security of Chinese nationals, projects and institutions in Pakistan.

Earlier reports had it that Chinese nationals were working at Dasu Dam project. Accident happened in Kohistan (KP).
