In a heart-wrenching incident, a family of seven was swept away by the powerful waters of a waterfall in Lonavala, a popular hill station near India’s Mumbai, on [date].

he family, who were on a holiday, were picnicking near the backwaters of the Bhusi Dam when the tragedy occurred. Heavy rainfall in the region had caused the dam to overflow, increasing the flow of water in the waterfall, making it a treacherous spot for tourists.

According to eyewitnesses, the family of seven, including children, were clinging to each other for support on a rock in the middle of the waterfall, hoping to move against the tide and onto the land. However, the sheer force of the rushing water overpowered them, and they were swept away downstream, screaming for help. The terrifying visuals of the family’s last minutes have sent shockwaves across the nation.

The incident occurred around 1:30 pm, and locals, as well as the police, rushed to the spot to begin a search and rescue operation. So far, three bodies have been recovered, and the operation will resume at daybreak tomorrow. Only two members of the family managed to swim back to safety.

The accident has raised concerns over the security arrangements in the waterfall and the Bhusi dam downstream. A video from the same location showed hundreds of tourists sitting on the edge of the dam and its wall, with food stalls in the middle of the waterfall, unperturbed by any concerns about security.

There were no security arrangements in place to stop tourists from entering the area, which has sparked questions about the safety measures in place to protect visitors.

The police have reported that the tourists slipped into the waterfall and drowned in the reservoir downstream .
