Champions Trophy 2025: New design of Karachi’s National Stadium unveiled

15 August, 2024 20:55

A new design of Karachi’s National Bank Cricket Stadium has emerged as revamping of the historic stadium is underway for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

As per the plan, the stadium will be renovated in two phases. The first phase will be completed before the 2025 Champions Trophy and the second phase will take place after the conclusion of the ICC event.

The new model indicates that a fresh building will be built right in front of the main structure.

Reports suggest that the new infrastructure will have VIP boxes, a gallery, media boxes and boxes for families of the ones playing. The two dressing rooms can also be shifted to the new building.

So far, the scoreboard building has been revamped at the National Stadium including the enclosures of Iqbal Qasim and Naseem-ul-Ghani.

Moreover, the stadium will have a roof all across the structure.

It is pertinent to mention here that the PCB has allocated Rs12.80 billion for upgradation of three stadiums; Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, Karachi’s National Bank Cricket Arena and Rawalpindi International Cricket Stadium.

The proposed dates for the Champions Trophy are from 19th February to 9th March.

Notably, the second Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh will be played at the National Stadium from August 30 to September 3 with spectators.
