15 September, 2024 16:01

JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman’s reservations on constitutional amendment have been removed, claim the government sources.

The government leaders say that Maulana Fazlur Rehman will support the government regarding the constitutional amendment, which is a comprehensive package to form the constitutional court. The procedure for the appointment of judges for the constitutional court is also being formulated, they added.

According to the sources, new judges will be appointed for the Constitutional Court and the purpose of creating the court is to provide relief to the common man.

During the meeting held last night, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Maulana Fazlur Rehman resolved the controversial issues, after which the constitutional amendment is likely to be presented in the National Assembly and Senate today.

The government has the numbers required in the National Assembly and the Senate. Amendments are also being made regarding the vote of dissenting members, while the draft is also ready for the amendment of Article 63 A of the Constitution.

Earlier, PML-N leader and member of National Assembly Tariq Fazal Chaudhry had also claimed that the government has full numbers for the constitutional amendment.
