The Supreme Court of Pakistan has accepted the unconditional apology of MQM Pakistan member of National Assembly Mustafa Kamal and Senator Faisal Vawda in the contempt of court case.

The Supreme Court accepted the unconditional pardon of Faisal Vawda and Mustafa Kamal and withdrew the notice of contempt of court against them.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faiz Isa called Mustafa Kamal and Faisal Vawda to the rostrum and while talking to them said that you represent the people in the Parliament and we respect you and hope you will respect us too.

Justice Qazi Faiz Isa said that people will be harmed by demeaning each other, you are protected by Article 66 in Parliament and you will not get Article 66 by talking outside.

The Chief Justice said that your unconditional apology is accepted but be careful in this matter in the future.

Earlier, independent Senator Faisal Vawda has refused to tender an unconditional apology in contempt of court case.

He submitted reply in the Supreme Court over a contempt of court notice against a press conference on May 15.

“The press conference was not aimed at insulting the judiciary and it was meant for the betterment of the country,” Faisal Vawda said in his reply to the court.

In his reply, Senator Vawda asked the court to observe restraint over moving forward the contempt proceedings.

He also requested to withdraw the contempt of court notice, issued to him.
