Controversial ‘Barzakh’ off YouTube
Controversial series ‘Barzakh’ has been taken off from YouTube Pakistan amid a wave of public criticism surrounding the show since its premiere on the platform.
The announcement was made by Zee’s Zindagi stating that it would “voluntarily” withdraw its latest series.
“This decision underscores our dedication to honouring our audiences without causing alienation,” the Indian entertainment channel said. “We sincerely appreciate your understanding and continued support. Thank You.”
The series starring renowned actors like Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed sparked heated debated among viewers for its “provocative” themes.
Its first episode of Barzakh has already garnered over four million views on YouTube.
The network expressed its gratitude to those who have appreciated the show, while acknowledging the public discontent surrounding it.
The other cast includes, M Fawad Khan, Salman Shahid, Khushhal Khan, Sajid Hasan, Uzma Beg, and Nighat Choudhry.
The final episode of ‘Barzakh’ is scheduled to air Tuesday at 8pm. The series will formally be removed from the platform on August 09.
Meanwhile, director Asim Abbasi backed the decision stating that it was for the best.
“No story of mine is worth more than the safety of all the beautiful, talented artists who came together to craft it,” said Abbasi hoping that fans would enjoy the finale.
