Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to field first against Babar Azam-led Pakistan in a much anticipated and high-profile World Cup clash in Ahmedabad,India.

Pakistani inning got off to a strong start, accumulating runs in the initial overs.However, their momentum was disrupted when Siraj made a crucial breakthrough on the last ball of the 8th over, dismissing Abdullah Shafique, the right-handed batsman with a leg-before-wicket delivery.

Skipper Babar Azam comes at no 2, Pakistan stands at 41-1 at the end of 8th over. With the exception of Babar Azam (50), Mohammad Rizwan (49), Imamul Haq (36) and Abdullah Shafique (20), none of the batters showed any significant resistance with the bat.

At one point, Pakistan was in a strong position at 155-2, but they experienced a dramatic collapse, losing eight wickets for a mere 36 runs.

Finishing Pakistani inning in 42.5 overs with just 191 runs the Indian squad as well as local crowd were sure of early finish which exactly happened when Indian chased the 192 in 30.3 overs while having 7 wickets in hands.

Rohit Sharma whacked six boundaries and six sixes in his fiery knock. Shubman Gill scored only (20) runs from four boundaries bowled by Shahen Afridi caught by Shadab Khan.

Virat Kohli made only (16) runs departed 2-79. At other end Rohit Sharma thrashed Pak bowling scoring (86) runs on (63) balls when the third wicket fell down 3-156.

India swept past against Pakistan comfortably by seven wickets, with 117 balls remaining. Shreyas Iyer (53) scored the winning runs for his side and notched up his fifty in style.KL Rahul remained unconquered on 29-ball 19, lacing with two boundaries.
