Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain issued a condolence message on Tuesday.

He expressed deep grief and sorrow over the demise of eminent writer, novelist and columnist Masood Ashar.

In a condolence message the minister noted the death of Masood Ashar as a shocking news.

He said that Masood Ashar had rendered invaluable services in fields of fiction and journalism.

Nation will always remember his services.

Fawad further said that the late writer was a beautiful combination of knowledge and practice, the vacuum created by his demise will never be filled.

He prayed Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace.

Moreover, he prayed Allah grant courage to the bereaved family to bear this loss with fortitude.

Nonagenarian journalist , short story writer and progressive intellectual Masood Ashar passed away in Lahore.

The funeral prayers for the deceased held at the mosque of B Block DHA, phase I, at 10am on Tuesday (today).

He left behind two sons and two daughters. His wife passed away last year.
