Dr Ebrahim Raisi takes oath as President of Islamic Republic of Iran today (Thursday).

The oath taking ceremony held at the Iranian parliament in Tehran.

New President took the oath of office before parliament in presence of the Judiciary chief and members of the Expediency Council.

Besides,  and foreign guests also attended the ceremony.

The swearing-in of the president in Iran is based on Article 121 of the constitution.

According to the constitution, in the swearing-in ceremony, the Judiciary chief and members of the Expediency Council should be present in the parliament.

Earlier, Iranian Parliament (Majlis) Speaker Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf delivered a speech.

Qalibaf said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is stepping into the new Solar Hijri century.

He underlined it the inheritor of more than a century of struggle for independence, freedom, justice, rejection of hegemony, and, most importantly, the use of genuine Islamic values in society.

Furthermore, he referred to the Parliament as the government’s companion on the path to the country’s development.

Qalibaf underlined the Parliament an active and compassionate observer in fulfilling the government’s commitments.

Foreign officials attended oath-taking ceremony

Meanwhile, Afghanistan’s President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, Iraqi President Barham Salih, Venezuelan vice president, Bangladesh’s foreign minister, deputy foreign minister of South Korea, Ghana’s deputy foreign minister, leader of Shia community in Turkey, deputy speaker of Kazakhstan’s parliament, head of supreme council of Kyrgyzstan, as well as parliament speakers from Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Zanzibar, Syria, Tanzania, and Niger attended the ceremony.

Deputy speaker of the Malaysian Parliament, Ghana’s tourism minister, director general of Italy’s Foreign Ministry, and secretary-general of OPEC also attended.

High-ranking officials of the European Union headed by Deputy Secretary-General of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Action Enrique Mora also attended.

The EU ambassador to Vienna and head of the Iran Action Desk in the European Union accompany Mora in the visit.

Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani represented Pakistan at the oath-taking event in Tehran.
