Ruby Rose and Katy Perry’s Past Feud Resurfaces After New Allegations on Threads
The ongoing controversy between Ruby Rose and Katy Perry has once again drawn public attention, following Rose’s recent allegations shared on the social platform Threads on April 12, 2026. While Perry’s representatives have denied the claims, past tensions between the two celebrities have resurfaced.
This is not the first time the pair has been at odds. Back in 2017, Rose publicly criticized Perry following the release of her single Swish Swish, which was part of the album Witness. At the time, Rose reportedly believed the song was aimed at Taylor Swift, who is known to be her close friend.
Taking to social media platform X in May 2017, Rose expressed her disappointment with Perry’s musical direction and messaging. In one of her posts, she wrote:
“I just think with everything going on in the world to go from rebranding as political activist only to ditch it and go low.. is.. a bummer.”
Her comments quickly gained traction online, especially as they referenced Perry’s concept of “purposeful pop,” associated with the promotion of her album Witness. Rose also made indirect remarks about another song, Bon Appetit, which, along with the album, received mixed reactions compared to Perry’s earlier successes.
However, just a few days later, Rose publicly expressed regret over her statements. Reflecting on her actions, she admitted that responding impulsively was not the right approach and acknowledged her personal experiences as a factor behind her reaction. She stated:
“I have always believed strongly that Karma exists and the truth always surfaces however I’m not god and I can’t decide when or how that is. Clearly comes from being bullied in school & wanting to stick up for the underdogs. However I shouldn’t stoop because then the msg is mixed.”
Despite the online exchange, Katy Perry did not publicly respond to Rose’s comments at the time. Similarly, Taylor Swift remained silent, even as discussions linked the situation to her long-standing feud with Perry.
The history between Perry and Swift dates back several years, with tensions becoming public after Swift hinted in a 2014 interview that her song Bad Blood was inspired by a dispute with another artist. While Swift did not name Perry directly, the situation fueled widespread speculation and media coverage.
As the latest allegations dominate headlines, the resurfacing of past disagreements between Ruby Rose and Katy Perry adds another layer to an already complex and highly discussed controversy.
