Melissa Barrera Comeback After Scream 7 Firing With Pro-Palestine Production Venture
Actor Melissa Barrera latest interview revealed that after her openly support with Gaza and point out about the peace on the October 7 attack, fallout a huge career crisis for her. She tells that sharing fundraising links and publicly speak about Palestine causing her exit from Scream 7 and her departure from WME
The agency characterized her posts as “antisemitic” and claimed they amounted to “incitement of hate.”
The production company behind the Scream films, Spyglass Media Group, issued a statement to Variety Magazine shortly after Barrera’s firing.
“Spyglass’ stance is unequivocally clear: We have zero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any form, including false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, Holocaust distortion or anything that flagrantly crosses the line into hate speech,” it said.

Responding to the accusations in her interview, Barrera rejected the claims and said, “I will continue to speak out for those that need it most and continue to advocate for peace and safety, for human rights and freedom. Silence is not an option for me.”
Barrera said she feared she had lost the career she had dreamed about since childhood while growing up in Mexico, as the year following her firing, she was not cast in any productions, and all of her offers completely dried up.
Later, she also revealed that, she received few messages of support from fellow actors and members of the entertainment business, filmmaker Boots Riley helped change the direction of her career after reaching out with a role offer.
Despite her sudden and precipitous fall, Barrera did not give up on her dream of acting and would not let Hollywood defeat her, Barrera described the moment as a turning point when she got Riley call, saying more film offers followed soon after. “I call him ‘The Wizard.’ The energy shifted,” she said, adding that she accepted The Copenhagen Test because she wanted to return to set and work consistently again.

Looking ahead, She has also started her own production company, so now Melissa Barrera focusing to launch her own production company focused on supporting pro-Palestine voices in the entertainment industry, more than two years after she was fired from Scream 7 over social media posts about the Israel-Gaza war.
The Mexican actress, 35, said the company will priorities collaborations with creatives who publicly supported Palestine as well as those who defended her after her dismissal from the horror franchise. She said she is now “building a slate, producing and finding good companies to partner with”, adding: “I want to give opportunities to good people. Basically, anyone pro-Palestine.

She said she has kept track of the people who publicly supported her during the backlash, naming Susan Sarandon, Tatiana Maslany, Hannah Einbinder, and Poppy Liu among them. She also called working with Javier Bardem a “dream.”
Barrera said she now sees this stage of her life and career as “Chapter 2.” Currently, the actor seems in Titaníque as Rose, a reimagined version of the iconic Titanic character. The musical has earned four nominations at the upcoming Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
