An Australian actress Rebel Wilson has emerged victorious in a defamation case after a Sydney court rejected claims made by young actress Charlotte MacInnes.

Wilson’s film ‘The Deb’ co actress Maclnness, had taken legal action against the ‘Jojo Rabbit’, ‘Pitch perfect’ and ‘Bridesmaides’ star over Instagram post shared in 2024 and 2025. According to her claim, Wilson hurt her reputation by accusing her of dropping a sexual harassment complaint against a film producer to further her career. MacInnes said the allegation was untrue.

Although, on Wednesday, the case is dismissed by the Justice Elizabeth Raper, ruling that the statement suggesting MacInnes had changed her account of the incident was not defamatory. And MacInnes was also ordered to cover Wilson’s legal expenses.

The background of the case depend on the September 2023 incident. When MacInnes along with film producer Amanda Ghost went for the swimming at Bondi Beach. But they both returned to Ghost’s luxury apartment after she suffered an allergic reaction to the cold water.

As Ghost took a shower, MacInnes ran a bath and got in to warm herself up. Ghost later joined her, and both remained dressed in their swimsuits.

Commenting on the unusual circumstances, Justice Raper told the court that the situation surrounding how the two women ended up in the bath was “unusual.”
