Phil Tindall Dies at 80 as Mike Tindall Remembers His Rugby Influence

Mike Tindall a former England rugby star is in grief, as he lost his father, Phill Tindall, who died last week at the age of 80.

On September 23, during his podcast The Good, The Bad & The Rugby, Mike announced his father’s death news and said that, his father passed away the previous week.

Phil was also a rugby player and represented Otley Rugby Club in West Yorkshire during the 1972 and 1973 seasons. He also served as the club’s captain. The club paid tribute to him with a minute’s silence during a match last weekend.

Mike thanked Otley Rugby Club for remembering his father and said he watched a recording of the tribute. He also spoke warmly about Phil’s role in his own rugby journey.

Phil’s playing career ended early after he suffered a serious leg injury just before marrying Mike’s mother, Linda, in 1969. Mike recalled that his father had to retire from rugby at the age of 27.

Phil later remained an important influence on Mike’s career and helped him develop his rugby skills from a young age.

Phil had also lived with Parkinson’s disease for many years. Mike had previously spoken openly about his father’s health and the emotional impact of watching his condition worsen.

Mike also contributed to Parkinson’s research and fundraising initiatives through Cure Parkinson’s.
