Famous screenwriter Khalilur Rehman Qamar kidnapped, tortured in Lahore

Renowned scriptwriter Khalilur Rehman Qamar was abducted and robbed today in Lahore.

Police said a woman named Amna called the scriptwriter and invited him to her house to discuss a drama project. Upon Qamar’s arrival, armed men abducted him and committed the robbery.

The writer reportedly paid a large sum to the kidnappers for his release. Sundar police station has  registered a case on behalf of Qamar’s statement.

According to the first information report, the suspects tortured Khalilur Rheman Qamar and took him to various places.

The writer alleged that the abductors threatened to kill him. They also demanded money from his relatives. The case also mentions the suspects stole Qamar’s cellphone, watch and cash. They also transferred Rs250,000 from Qamar’s ATM card.

The writer further said in the FIR the kidnappers blindfolded him and later left him at a deserted place before fleeing.

Khalilur Rehman Qamar is one of the highly acclaimed Pakistani scriptwriter, producer and director known for his significant contributions to the television and film industry.

Popular for his compelling storytelling and strong dialogues, Qamar has written numerous hit dramas, including “Pyaray Afzal”, “Mere Paas Tum Ho” and “Sadqay Tumhare.”
