FIA summoned leading media persons for alleged campaign against Judiciary

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) summoned 65 individuals over alleged malicious campaign against state institutions and judges of the Supreme Court.

The FIA registered (115) inquiries and issued notices to (65) individuals in relation to alleged campaign against Chief Justice of Pakistan and superior judiciary following Supreme Court’s verdict that upheld the Dec 22 decision of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) depriving PTI of its iconic symbol — ‘bat’.

All personalities are ‘alleged’ to have been posting content on various social media platform i.e facebook, YouTube, twitter, Instagram and TikTok.

The FIA labelled their content under ‘ anti judiciary/ anti state institutions ‘ campaign. The hearing regarding these notices will be held on January 30 and 31.

The list includes prominent traditional and social media journalists, vloggers and social – political activists living in Pakistan and abroad.

Some very prominent personalites to whom FIA issued notices are Asad Ali Toor, ⁠Paras Jahanzeb, ⁠Iqrar Ul Hassan, ⁠Siddique Jan, ⁠Matiullah, ⁠Syed Haider Raza Mehdi, ⁠Shaheen Sehbai, ⁠Cyril Almeida, ⁠⁠Adeel Raja,  ⁠Sabir Shakir, Imran Riaz, Orya Jan Maqbool, ⁠Arif Hameed Bhatti,  ⁠Tariq Mateen, Jibran Nasir and many more.

The caretaker government constituted the six member JIT, headed by the Additional Director General of FIA’s Cyber Crime Wing, includes representatives from the Intelligence Bureau (IB), Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), the DIG Islamabad police, and a representative from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).

Few days Earlier, Caretaker Information Minister Murtaza Solangi said that there are more than 500 social media accounts identified which are involved in so called anti-judiciary campaign.
