FIA withdraws appeal against Sanam Javed’s acquittal

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) withdrew its appeal against the acquittal of PTI activist Sanam Javed.

The hearing, presided over by Judge Afzal Majoka, addressed the FIA’s appeal to the duty magistrate’s decision to discharge Javed from the case.

During the court proceedings, FIA prosecutor Sheikh Amir appeared before the court to present the agency’s position.

“Thank you for your kindness in this case.”

The court subsequently dismissed the appeal based on the FIA’s withdrawal, closing the matter.

Earlier on July 15, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered authorities concerned to immediately release Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist Sanam Javed and stopped the police and other law enforcement agencies from arresting her till Thursday.

Sanam Javed, who faced arrests and rearrests in multiple cases related to May 9 mayhem, had been rearrested by the capital territory police on Sunday, an hour after her release from Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) custody.
