As the Eidul Azha is approaching, the buyers are rushing to the cattle markets. In such a situation, health experts advised the market-goers to take some precautionary measures to protect themselves from animal-borne diseases.

Health experts said that many diseases are transmitted from animals to humans and these ailments include taenia, toxoplasma, congo virus and others.

Precautions: The whole body should be covered and long-sleeved clothes should be worn. Closed shoes should be used while wearing socks.

A solution that keeps insects away should be applied on the open parts of the body and the body should be checked properly after returning from the market. After bathing, wear clean clothes.

Health expert Dr. Naseem Salahuddin, the head of Infectious Diseases Department of Indus Hospital, said that Congo is a viral hemorrhagic virus that is transmitted from animals to humans.

He added that Congo virus is transmitted to humans by the bite of an insect that grows on the body of an animal infected with the Congo virus, or by the blood of an infected animal touching the body of a healthy person during or immediately after slaughter.
