Former Man City set to make sensational return to the club: report

FC Barcelona midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has reportedly agreed to return to Manchester City, just after spending one season at the Catalan club.

The 33-year-old Germany star join Barcelona in 2023 from Manchester City after winning the historic treble.

Since then, he made 51 appearances for the five-time Champions League winners, scoring five goals and provided 14 assists.

During Xavi Hernandez’s managerial stint, he was a regular starter for the side. However, since Xavi’s departure, his future is uncertain at the club.

He was not even named in the squad for Valencia tie.

Soon after his omission from the squad, Cadena SER and other Spanish outlets reported that Gundogan may soon find a way out of the club despite having two years left on his contract.

The development was also confirmed by renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano.

According to him, the German midfielder will pen a one-year deal with an option of adding 12 months as he is liked greatly by head coach Pep Guardiola.
