Former Prime Minister Abbasi judicial remand extended in LNG case

Former Prime Minister Abbasi judicial remand extended in LNG case. The accountability court on Friday granted extension in judicial remand till March 9 in a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) case.

The extension came after expiry of the judicial remand today.
Abbasi, a key leader of PMLN was brought to the court.
Meanwhile, NAB’s prosecutor told the court that said that the other accused of the case namely Shahid Muzaffarul Islam was not available at his home address.
The prosecutor said he would present comprehensive report in this regard on the next hearing.

Former Prime Minister Abbasi

Barrister Zafarullah represented Shahid Khaqan Abbasi during the hearing.
He opposed the NAB’s  move to exclude the name of Muzaffarul Islam from the reference.
He said how one’s name can be excluded from the case in an incomplete trial?
Barrister Zafarullah said according to the NAB, Shahid Muzaffarul Islam was co accused with his client, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in the reference.
The court after hearing the arguments extended judicial remand of Abbasi and adjourned hearing till March 9.

Bail plea rejected

Hearing on bail plea of former PM and minister postponed until February due to sick leave of Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Athar Minallah.

Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had sought bail.

Since the CJ IHC has gone on sick leave, the bail petitions of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader, postponed without any proceedings.
A two-member IHC bench will hear the bail pleas of both on Feb24.
National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had filed cases against Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
NAB accused Abbasi of corruption in liquefied natural gas (LNG).
