Good news for Iran bound pilgrims

The government has set up additional counters and took preventive majors to facilitate the Iran bound pilgrims during the holy month of Muharram.

Around 60,000 pilgrims will travel to Iran from Pakistan via the Taftan border during Muharram, an estimated number shared by the government. Overall around 50,000 to 60,000 pilgrims would travel to the neighbouring country by bus for the rest of the year.

The government has deployed 1,400 security personnel along the 630-km route from Quetta to Taftan for the convenience and security of the pilgrims.

FC Balochistan has also set up rest areas in Nokkundi and Dalbandin while National Highway Authority (NHA) has also set up rest areas in Padak.

The number of FIA immigration counters at Taftan border has been increased from 14 to 20, there will be three additional standby counters.

Sheds have also been installed at waiting places to protect visitors from the scorching sun.

The 14-hour journey from Quetta to Taftan now includes these better facilities, the pilgrims have expressed satisfaction over the steps taken by the civil administration, Pakistan Army, Balochistan Police and Levies.
