Governor Kamran Tessori reacts over reports of his removal

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori has dismissed reports of his replacement, stating that he will continue to serve the people of Sindh as long as he holds the position.

Tessori’s comments come amid rumors of a consensus between the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) to change the Sindh governor.

The governor, who belongs to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), claimed that he enjoys the confidence of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari, and MQM-P chief Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui. “I will continue to fulfill my responsibilities as Sindh governor,” he added.

Tessori’s remarks were made during a media talk, where he was flanked by MQM-P leader Sattar.

Sattar stated that rumors regarding the replacement of the Sindh governor have been circulating, but no consultation has taken place.

Reports suggest that PML-N leader and former Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) chief Bashir Memon may replace Tessori as the new governor of Sindh. However, an MQM-P spokesperson has refuted these reports.

This is not the first time that reports of Tessori’s replacement have surfaced.

In April, sources claimed that former Sindh caretaker chief minister Justice (retired) Maqbool Baqar could be appointed as the new governor.

PPP leader Waqar Mehdi had also called for Tessori’s removal, stating that he had failed to discharge his duties as governor.
