In a significant political development, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has decided to remove Sindh governor Kamran Tessori, GTV News reported on Friday citing sources.

Sources said that the discussions between the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and PML-N have been ongoing regarding the removal of Sindh governor Kamran Tessori.

Sources close to the development revealed that the PPP has agreed to the name of Bashir Memon, the former DG Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), currently serving the president of PML-N Sindh.

Bashir Memon, proposed by PML-N, emerged as the top contender for the position, sources say.

The development comes after PM Shehbaz, who is on day-long visit to Karachi, met Sindh CM and held discussion on different projects the federal government has initiated in the province, according to a statement issued by the CM House on Friday.

During his day-long visit to Karachi, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Friday agreed to speed up the timely completion of the federal government-funded development projects in the province.

The fate of Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori hangs in the balance after the Pakistan Peoples Party repeatedly demanded his removal from the office.

The ruling party in Sindh accused him of “creating a political divide and further widening the gap between urban and rural areas of Sindh” and asked the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz-led government in the Centre to remove him from the post.
