How many animals will be sacrificed in Pakistan this year?

As Pakistan celebrates Eid ul Adha 2024 with traditional zeal, the Pakistan Tanners Association has revealed the number of animals that will be sacrificed this year.

As per The Pakistan Tanners Association report, approximately 6.8 million animals will be sacrificed in the country. ­­­

This includes 2.8 million cows, 3.3 million goats, 165,000 buffaloes, and 99,000 camels.  Their hides are expected to generated around Rs6 billion.

Specifically, cow hides are expected to generate Rs4.29 billion, with each hide valued at Rs1,500. Goat hides are estimated to add Rs1.4025 billion, with each hide valued at Rs425.

After chemical processing, the total worth of these hides is projected to reach Rs18 billion, this figure could rise to Rs35 billion if these hides processed into leather.

Due to the high cost of animals this year, many people may prefer to contribute to shared sacrifices.
