How much rain is likely in Karachi, reveals Chief Meteorologist

Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz has said that due to the rain, the intensity of heat in Karachi will decrease and there will be intermittent light and heavy rain for the next two to three days.

Speaking to a local TV, Sardar Sarfraz said that the weather will remain hot in city tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. The temperature will be 37 to 38 degrees but its intensity will be less, he said, adding it will be hot until the low pressure ends. However, it is expected that sea breezes will resume from tomorrow evening.

He said that there will be light and heavy rains intermittently for 2 to 3 days in the city as due to low air pressure, there is a system of rains.

The Chief Meteorologist said that there will be heavy rain in Central, Gulshan Hadeed, Surjani, Nazimabad and Gadap areas of Karachi, while Umarkot, Sanghar, Badin, Tharparkar are receiving heavy rain since afternoon and now the clouds are moving towards Nawabshah.

Earlier, weather in Karachi become pleasant after the port city received light rain on Thursday, bringing much-needed relief to the citizen from scorching heat.

The city’s areas where downpour was recorded include Saddar, Malir, Gadap, Super Highway and surrounding areas.

Thunderclouds were seen in the northeast part of Karachi.

In its forecast, the Met office said, monsoon winds will enter Karachi from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea starting June 26.

“A low-pressure system currently present in Gujarat, India, is set to move towards Pakistan, bringing with it the much-needed rain,” it said.
