ICC bans Devon Thomas for five years

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has imposed a 5-year ban on West Indian cricketer Devon Thomas for violating the Anti-Corruption Code.

According to the ICC, Devon Thomas committed seven violations of the anti-corruption code of Sri Lanka Cricket, Emirates Cricket Board and CPL.

The ICC says that West Indian cricketer has been banned for 5 years and declared ineligible for all forms of cricket.

Thomas has admitted all seven violations.

The West India player had been suspended for corruption with seven charges in May 2023. The charges also include contriving to fix matches. ICC said the period of ineligibility is backdated to 23 May 2023, when Thomas was provisionally suspended.

The West Indian cricketer had accepted breaching the same seven charges of which four were from the SLC anti-corruption code, one from the ECB code, and two from the CPL code.

Thomas, who had played both international and professional domestic/franchise cricket, have already attended numerous anti-corruption education sessions.
