If legislation to be dictated from behind, asks Fazl

07 March, 2024 07:33

Maulana Fazlur Rahman, the head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, has said that if an attempt is made to make a new Constitution then the remaining Pakistan will be no more. Unfortunately, even the Constitution is not save here.

Addressing the lawyers’ convention in Lahore, he asked whether the legislation is done by the House or dictated from behind?

He said that we never accept rigged elections. Elections were rigged in 2018 and the same practice is done in recent elections. Constitution and its supremacy is essential, he said.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman further said that we fought hard against PTI and despite the bitterness they came and we welcomed them.

Earlier, Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has claimed the rigging in 2024 elections had broken the record of irregularities committed in 2018 elections.

Addressing a press conference on Sunday, Fazl said that the parliament was losing its importance. This parliament is not public representative. Democracy has lost its case, he told a news conference.

This government cannot win the hearts of masses, the JUI leader said.

Earlier today, Shehbaz Sharif, the joint candidate of the eight-party alliance-led by PML-N for the PM Office, was elected as 33rd prime minister of Pakistan.
