If relief not given to people in 41 days, I won’t be able to stop anyone from D Chowk: JI chief

Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has said that they do not follow anyone’s instructions and if the government does not give relief to the people in 41 days, then he will not be able to stop anyone from D Chowk.

Addressing a rally held in Peshawar against inflation, electricity bills and increase in taxes, Hafiz Naeem said that the people are worried about the increase in taxes, electricity loadshedding and oil prices and there is no spokesperson for 25 crore people. There is no opposition and the government in the country. He asked the workers to be ready for a long struggle.

He further said that if anyone thinks that Jamaat-e-Islami’s sit-in was unsuccessful like the previous sit-ins, then it is their mistake. People have to be given relief, there is no other option and Jamaat-e-Islami does not follow anyone’s instructions. If relief is not given in 41 days, I will not be able to stop anyone from D Chowk, people have to be given their right or else the government will be overthrown, he added.

He said that some IPPs are given money whether they generate electricity or not. We have written in the agreement that IPPs will be fully checked, he said and added that it is a long struggle and we will not accept any obstacle.

Hafiz Naeem said that Jamaat-e-Islami has never supported military operations. There has been a new wave of terrorism. Why did the former generals who claimed to establish peace through operations not apologize. The enemies of the country are all around. It is America’s agenda to keep the army and the people at odds, he said.
