Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi indicted in £190mn reference
An accountability court in Rawalpindi indicted former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the £190 million reference on Tuesday.
The hearing of the high-profile case was conducted at Adiala jail – where the PTI founder is currently incarcerated in Toshakhana, cipher and illegal marriage cases – by Judge Nasir Javed Rana.
The judge read the charge sheet in Khan and Bushra’s presence in the courtroom.
On this occasion, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Deputy Prosecutor Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi, along with his team were also present.
The accountability watch-dog initiated an investigation against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder, his wife, and others regarding the alleged acquisition of hundreds of canals of land under the name of Al Qadir University Trust, resulting in a reported loss of 190 million pounds to the exchequer.
Both Khan and his wife then denied the charges against them.
The hearing was then adjourned on March 6 and the court also ordered five witnesses of NAB to attend the hearing.
