19 March, 2024 10:48

Israel and Hamas resumed indirect negotiations on truce in Gaza in Doha.

An Israeli delegation headed by Mossad chief David Barnea met with Qatari and Egyptian mediators led by Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman al-Thani.

The current round of negotiation could take at least two weeks and the Israeli team will stay in Doha for the detailed negotiations with Egyptian and Qatari mediators.

According to an official the process is going to be a long, difficult and complex.

Meanwhile, famine is imminent to occur in the next two months in northern Gaza after months of war that have shattered the Palestinian territory, killed thousands and cut off supplies.

The number of people at risk of catastrophic hunger has risen to 1.1 million across the whole of besieged enclave, says a report by Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC). Some 300,000 Gazans are cut off by fighting in the north.

The report added that the famine is now projected and imminent in the North Gaza and Gaza Governorates. It is expected to become manifest during the projection period from mid-March 2024 to May 2024.
