Interim KP CM Azam Khan passes away

Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhawa care taker Chief Minister Mohammad Azam Khan on Saturday passed away due to cardiac arrest. He was 87 years old.

He was admitted to Rehman Medical Institute Hayatabad (RMI) last night at 10:00pm after his health deteriorated. According to RMI spokesperson, the condition of Azam Khan, was critical upon admission. He had been suffering from diarrhea for the past four days.

Dr Gulzar, RMI’s director of operations, said a comprehensive medical examination, including a CT scan, was carried out on the late prime minister last night. CT scan revealed the presence of an inguinal hernia and imminent surgical intervention was considered. He said the decision on surgery should be made this morning.

Tragically, Mr Azam Khan suffered a heart attack at 9am today, which led to his untimely death, the doctor said. Gulzar. Family sources said his namaz-e-janaza is scheduled to be held in his native village Charsadda today at 3:30 pm. Muhammad Azam Khan was sworn in as Deputy Prime Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on January 21, 2023. Azam Khan was unanimously nominated for this post by the government and the opposition.

He belonged to Charsadda and served as K-P Finance Minister from October 24, 2007 to April 1, 2008.
