Is Karachi ignored in Budget 2024-25

Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb presented the federal budget 2024-25, however, packages for Karachi were not highlighted in the speech a part from K-4 project.

The Finance Minister despite admitted that Karachi plays a key role in the economic development of the country, he didn’t share any details of what government has planned for the port city.

He said it is necessary to take care of Karachi’s infrastructure towards innovation in consultation with all stakeholders.

A comprehensive Karachi package is proposed, as well as plans for Hyderabad, Sukkur, Mirpur Khas and Benazirabad.

No briefing was given regarding projects other than water in Karachi.

On the other hand, the federal government has increased the minimum salary by only Rs 4,000 this year compared to last year, while the salaries of grade 1 to 15 employees have increased by 25 percent and the salaries of grade 16 to 22 employees have increased by 22 percent.
