Islamabad police detains PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat has been arrested by the Islamabad Police.

The PTI leader was taken to Golra police station, where he was later released after a brief time period on bail. Apart from him, 16 PTI activists were also detained.

According to sources, Sher Afzal Marwat and PTI workers were arrested in Islamabad for violating Section 144.

A heavy contingent of police was present around the postponed venue in Tarnool, from where Sher Afzal Marwat’s vehicle was stopped and he was detained.

Earlier, PTI has called off its Islamabad political power show after failing to secure no objection certificate from the local administration.

The gathering is now rescheduled for September 8.

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan said the notification about postponement of the rally as per instruction of PTI founder Imran Khan.

“We postponed the jalsa following a meeting with the PTI founder in Adiala jail,” he said.
