Israel to shut office of Qatar’s Al Jazeera TV

The Israeli parliament approved the law to shut the local office of Qatari broadcaster Al Jazeera TV in Israel.

According to foreign media, the Israeli parliament has approved a law under which the government has the authority to close foreign broadcasters considered to be a threat to national security.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu announced in a social media post that Al Jazeera will no longer be broadcast in Israel and as per the new law immediate action will be taken.

Meanwhile,  the Qatar-based TV has rejected the accusations by Netanyahu.

The media house said in a statement that Al Jazeera holds the Israeli PM responsible for the safety of its staff and network premises around the world after his incitement and this false accusations.

It reiterates that such accusations would not deter the TV from continuing its professional coverage.

According to British media, the Israeli prime minister has been trying to stop the broadcast of Al Jazeera for a long time, accusing the TV of being anti-Israel.

Several Al Jazeera journalists and their families have been martyred during Israeli attacks in Gaza.

On October 25 last year, the wife, son, daughter, grandson and 8 other relatives of the Bureau Chief of Gaza were martyred in an airstrike.
