Pakistan athlete Arshad Nadeem shared his thoughts after creating Olympic record in javelin throw event on Thursday.

The historic throw of 92.97m not only created Olympics all-time record but also ended Pakistan’s 40 years wait for the gold medal at the global sporting event.

“Today was my day. I was in rhythm and knew I could throw even further,” an emotional Arshad told media in Paris.

The 27-year-old expressed gratitude to the Pakistan Olympic Association and his coach for their unwavering support.

He acknowledged the immense pressure of being Pakistan’s only hope for a medal.

The Mian Channu-born was slow off the blocks, registering a no-throw on his first attempt of the night but shocked everyone on his second attempt, with a monstrous 92.97-m throw, which the rest of the field could not even come close for the rest of the competition.

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics winner Neeraj Chopra managed to bag a silver medal with an 89.45m, while Grenada’s Anderson Peters took home bronze, his first ever Olympic medal, with an 88.54m throw.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Nadeem on his win. “You’ve made the whole nation proud young man,” he wrote on social media platform X.

President Asif Ali Zardari also lauded Nadeem for his historic feat at the Paris Olympics.

In a heartfelt message, the President acknowledged that Arshad Nadeem’s remarkable achievement is not just a personal triumph, but a victory for the entire country.

Meanwhile, The Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and the Services Chiefs extended their heartfelt congratulations to the Paris Olympics gold medalist for his extraordinary achievement.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), this remarkable accomplishment is a testament to Arshad Nadeem’s unwavering dedication, tireless hard work, and exemplary discipline.
