Janhvi Kapoor breaks silence on starring in ‘Mr. India’ sequel

Bollywood actor Janhvi Kapoor recently expressed her thoughts on the possibility of being cast in the sequel to her mother Sridevi’s iconic film ‘Mr. India’.

During a promotional event for her upcoming movie ‘Ulajh’, Kapoor expressed her hesitation towards revisiting the classic film.

She stated, “Mr. India is one of the best films to have come out of Indian cinema. I don’t know if a film like that should ever be remade or touched again.”

“Whoever the director would be, he will know best. Something as pure as that, you can’t enforce things on that.”

Her father, Boney Kapoor, produced the original film 37 years ago and has confirmed plans for a sequel.

Janhvi Kapoor clarified that she has never pressured her father to cast her in his films, prioritizing his business decisions over their familial relationship.

She stated, “I am his daughter first and an actress speaking to a producer, second. It’s not even in my head.”

The original ‘Mr. India’, released in 1987, starred Anil Kapoor, Sridevi, and Amrish Puri, was a major commercial success, earning INR100 million against a budget of INR38 million.

The sequel’s plans remain under wraps, with Boney Kapoor keeping details undisclosed.
