Kalam: Roads blocked, tourist stranded after heavy snowfall

Rain and snow are continue in several parts of the country, due to which people’s problems have increased.

A new spell of snowfall has started in the low-lying areas of Baltistan Division, cutting off land connection with several upper areas.

Snowfall of up to three feet was recorded on the sides of Lowari due to which the Lowari Tunnel was closed and power supply was suspended in the area.

After heavy snowfall in Kalam, connecting roads were blocked and tourists were confined to their hotels. Vehicles were also stuck due to snowfall in the upper areas of Diamar, Ghazar, Astor and Skardu. Karakoram Highway was closed due to landslides in Kohistan.

Due to strong winds and snowfall in Murree, the administration has advised tourists and public to travel with caution.

Murree has received 8 inches of snow. Murree Expressway has worst traffic jam due to slippage. Power supply has been affected in most of the areas due to which tourists and locals are facing difficulties.

On the other hand, in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, low-lying areas were flooded due to heavy rain. Strong winds brought down billboards in Murree.

Abbottabad, Peshawar, Lower Dir and other areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, four people were killed and 9 injured in various accidents due to rains.

Heavy rain and hails also occurred in different areas of Balochistan.
