Karachi’s Baloch Flyover finally open for traffic

25 July, 2024 17:13

After hours long closure, Baloch flyover finally opened for traffic as tanker was removed from the sight in Karachi.

It took approximately 14 hours for Police on Thursday to open the flyover after tanker carrying highly inflammable jet fuel overturned on the busy thoroughfare.

One person was killed in the accident when the tanker was overturned on car in wee hours of Thursday.

Since the truck was carrying jet fuel, it could not be removed without emptying its stored fuel.

This delay caused a hour-long traffic disruption on multiple arteries including Korangi Road, Sharea Faisal and Shahrah-e-Quaideen.

The car driver, identified as Asad, who got crushed under the tanker, died on the spot. His vehicle was removed by a crane after three hours.

The rescue officials said the tanker overturned due to overloading and detaching of its engine.

The tanker was carrying about 60,000 litres of jet fuel, said Deputy Inspector General Traffic Karachi Ahmed Nawaz Cheema.

It was heading towards airport area.
