Kasur child pornography case : LHC quashed life imprisonment of 3 accused

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday acquitted three convicts serving life imprisonment in connection with the Kasur child sexual abuse scandal that came to light in 2015.

Led by Justice Shehram Sarwar Chaudhry, a two-judge bench of the LHC announced the verdict acquitting the three convicts, who were represented by counsels Abid Hussain Kachi and Sohail Asghar.

According to the counsel Abid Hussain Khichi — , a total of six primary suspects had been implicated in the case, with three having been released earlier, while the remaining three were acquitted today.

 

 

Background of Kasur Child Sexual Abuse Case 

On February 13, 2018,  Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore sentenced three accused for their involvement in the horrific Kasur child sexual abuse scandal to life imprisonment on Tuesday.

The ATC-II sentenced Haseem Ahmed, Waseem Sindhi and Aleem Asif to life imprisonment along with a Rs300,000 fine each. The gang which operated between 2006 and 2014, victimised hundreds of children in Kasur by forcing them to perform sexual acts on camera and later blackmailing the families.

The Kasur child sexual abuse scandal is a series of child sexual abuses that occurred in Hussain Khanwala village in Kasur District, Punjab, Pakistan from 2006 to 2014, culminating in a major scandal in 2015.

The scandal involved an organized crime ring that sold child pornography to porn sites, and blackmailed and extorted relatives of the victims.After the discovery of hundreds of child pornography video clips, it was estimated that 280 to 300 children, most of them male, were victims of sexual abuse.
