LHC judges also receive threatening letters

After Islamabad High Court judges, three judges of Lahore High Court also received threatening letters today.

The three judges of Lahore High Court including Justice Shujaat Ali, Justice Shahid Bilal and Justice Aalia Neelum receied the suspicious letters.

The CTD and police officials reached the Lahore High Court to investigate the matter.

Police have taken into custody the rider of the courier company who delivered the letters. They are inspecting the suspicious letters.

Earlier, eight judges including Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court had received suspicious letters yesterday.

According to sources, when a judge’s staff opened the letter, there was powder inside. The team of experts of Islamabad Police reached the Islamabad High Court and launched an investigation to check the nature of the powder.

Judicial sources said that there is a threatening sign inside the letter sent by a woman named Resham whose postal address not mentioned.

The Islamabad High Court summoned IGP Islamabad and DIG Police.

It should be noted that the suspicious letter has come at a time when six judges of the Islamabad High Court had raised the issue of interference in judicial affairs in a letter to the Supreme Judicial Council a few days ago.

The Supreme Court has taken suo motu notice of the matter.
