Masses to bare expenses of oil refineries upgradation

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a high-level Cabinet committee meeting on energy on Friday and made important decisions related to power sector.

As per sources, the hurdle in Islamabad approved 10 per cent deemed duty on petrol and similar 10 per cent duty on high speed diesel instead of proposed 7.5 per cent.

Apart from that the meeting also approved the extension of incentives and upgradation period to oil refineries. They will now spend $5 billion on upgradation, which while be recovered from the public.

A Disco Sport Unit comprising intelligence agencies officers will release the report. The unite will be setup in Multan Electric Supply Company in first phase, it said.

Moreover, it also approved reward to intelligence and law enforcement officers and disco employees for power theft prevention and recoveries.

Officers participating in disco support unit will get share on power theft prevention and receipts. About 5 to 10% of the amount will be given as a reward for preventing electricity theft and collecting.
